Don’t go unless you’re into parties. This school is only known for parties. Terrible people are at these parties just looking to take advantage of someone too drunk.
One of the worse colleges. The staff is racists and majority of the local student are hill billies who couldn't get into another college sadly.
I recall a professor trying to coax minorities to drop out after class. A lot of the positive reviews are the aforementioned types above.
If you have no other choice. But even then you should reconsider. The campus food is bad and walking anywhere is impossible unless you have a car.
Do yourself a favor and avoid a horrible experience. Dont get tricked by their updated website. Invest in a better college and college experience.
Been living in Alfred my whole life. So my review is bias but I love this college. Love the area. If you love the outdoors and receiving a great college education this the school for you. College is what you make of it. Yes it’s small and in the middle of nowhere but the people are welcoming, the college has plenty of clubs to join, there’s plenty of country side to go drive or even walk around the area. Alfred State college is such an amazing college.
Went to visit my Brother for "Hot Dog Weekend" celebration!! So much fun. We had a blast! Beautiful campus, great atmosphere, all around good time, students are polite and respectful. Also came for graduation ceremony, all around beautiful place!!
I work in facilities at the college. I love my job, the kids, the entire atmosphere!! They care about the individual you are...if you have a problem, no matter what it is, they will work something out...
The school is really a good school if you like smaller locations where you get to know everyone. I worked in the admissions office and got to see sides of the school that normal students did not. Unfortunately I had issues with the financial aid offices being a bit slow, but everything eventually got taken care of. Small town = lots of friends. Not having a car here CAN be an issue if you need things like groceries, but there are buses that run from campus to the nearest shopping locations in Hornell.
I love this school!!! The students are so nice, and the professors are experienced in the field. I have learned so much while I have been here. I have made lots of friends, and met tons of people. Coming to Alfred State is the best choice I have ever made.
